Technical skill and musical intuition are linked and can be strengthened systematically over time with personalized warmups, exercises, and mental strategies.
The more you control your instrument and get in touch with your “musical mind” the more likely you will be successful in expressing yourself in any musical setting whether you are reading or improvising.
I’m a firm believer in maximizing the effectiveness, quality and organization of my students’ practice time. I have developed an approach that combines technique with contemporary harmony.
I offer private lessons in my home studio in Scituate, MA and online using email correspondence and Skype.
I incorporate Joe Allard-based Exercises for Flexibility and Technique.
Lessons are customized to the level/ability and goals of each student. I have had extensive experience teaching students of all ages, including young children and adults.
Besides using traditional methodology, such as warmups, exercises, transcriptions, etc, I incorporate multi-media and online tools that I have used at Berklee College to accelerate learning.
Topics include Warmups for Tone and Dexterity, Diatonic/Chromatic Exercises that combine Technique and Theory for Improvisation, etc.
